For a better understanding on how to receive consignment items into inventory we recommend you both watch the video below as well as go over the step by step instructions.

  • From the BusinessMind home page click on Inventory.

  • From the Inventory home page click on Receive from Supplier which will open the receiving screen.

To begin we will fill out the supplier info which is the top section of the receiving screen.

  • Click in the Supplier field and start typing the supplier (vendor) name. You will note the system will automatically start searching and displaying results as you type. Select your supplier.

  • Select Consignment from the Supply Type drop down. In this tutorial we are entering consigned inventory. If you need to enter owned inventory the supply type would be set to Purchase.

  • Fill in the Receiving Ref Id (invoice id) or utilize the drop down to select an existing Receiving Ref Id to continue adding to the same Receiving Ref Id (invoice id).

  • Fill in any Receiving Notes if needed.

  • Select the location the items will be received into from the Shelf drop down menu.

  • To print tags when adding items check the Print Tags check box or deselect if you do not want to print tags.

Now that the supplier info is all set we can start adding our items

  • Click into the Model field and start typing the model (vendor style number) of the item you wish to add. You will note the system will automatically start searching and displaying results as you type. If this is an existing model select it from the list. If this is a new model type the full model number then select CREATE NEW MODEL.

After the model is selected or created we can move to the items details.

  • Select your Qty Type from the drop down menu. For more info on the qty type options check out this article http://docs.bmjapp.help/inventory-and-services/qty-type-when-to-use-measurement-or-item-count

  • Enter the total qty for this particular model you are receiving in the Count Qty field. Example: I have 5 of the same ring that I am receiving so this qty will be 5.

  • If the SKU Per Item check box is checked then you will get a separate SKU (inventory record) for each qty of this item added (qty from step 8). If the SKU Per Item check box is NOT checked, then this will result in one SKU (inventory record) with a qty as set in step 8.

  • Fill in your cost and pricing info.

  • Fill in any other additional info needed in the various fields like Description, notes, ect...)

  • Add attachments by dragging and dropping them into the Attachments area.

Once all the details are added you are ready to save the item and continue adding additional items.

  • Click the save icon which will automatically add the item into inventory and prompt you to print a tag if that option was toggled.

  • When you save the item, the supplier info will lock and the received sku's field will populate with the sku info.

  • At this point you are ready to enter your next item, simply repeat steps starting from the Model.

  • When you are finished receiving simply click on any link in the navigation bar to exit the receiving screen.
